About us

Alder Street Baptist Church (ASBC) was originally called "First Southern Baptist" of Centralia. Our church was established at it's current location in 1954 and is a member of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC), and the Pacific Northwest Association (PNWA). Alder Street Baptist Church desires to reach out and help those who are lost and un-churched to introduce them to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

John 3:16 New International Version (NIV)

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Also provide them a New Testament Church home, we strive to minister to the needs of the local community, the surrounding area, and the world through the cooperation and collaboration with all our Brothers and Sisters in Christ, and Christian churches striving to fulfill Christ's direction;

Matthew 28:18-20 New International Version (NIV)

The Great Commission

18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

We here at Alder street are a small church filled with joy, laughter, faith and hope. We may not have fancy buildings or extensive outreach and activities at this time, but we have genuine Love for the Lord, and we desire to reach everyone with the message that God's love, Grace, and Power is sufficient, and is bigger and greater than any problem mankind, this world, or Satan can use. Absolutely nothing can keep God's love from lifting you, prevent God's Grace from restoring you, or the Power to stop you from receiving God's gift of salvation.

 Outreach & ministry activities include:

  • Salvation Sharing

  • Food & clothes distribution (like we had before the flood)

  • Block party

  • Host outreach activities i.e. BBQ, bowling, pizza parties, ping pong tournaments, BB games, concerts, skating, movies, sports/recreation

  • Community garden

ASBC desires to offer programs that will attract young families with children and teenagers, through;

  • Annual Vacation Bible School—Backyard Bible Clubs

  • Young mothers Bible study during the week and during school hours

  • Host food canning, preserving, and cooking classes

  • Provide monthly arts & crafts classes

  • Offer simple weekly meals to the community

  • Offer transportation to the Elderly and those with special needs

  • Addiction recovery meetings and counseling

  • Provide leadership & discipleship training

Our facilities were severely damaged during the 2007 Lewis County flood, and victimized by a dis-honest contractor, which resulted in the loss of flood insurance rebuilding funds. So our facilities are still under construction and renovation. So if you have a trades skill, or a desire to help and serve, we have a need for strong arms, backs, and faith to come along side and restore the buildings and minister to us, our friends, family and the community.
